The Germans captured
and pressed into service a substantial amount of SOMUA
tanks captured from the French, for whom these had been
their best AFVs. The kit is the old but decent Heller
offering, with some detailing and modifications mostly
around the side hatches, commanders cupola, main gun,
side skirts and stowage. Although a panzergrau would have
been be a far more common painting on a German SOMUA, I
chose to have ago with the later two-tone camouflage to
represent a vehicle used by Pz. Abt. 202 in the
Balkans. Very special thanks to Ilian Filipov for a
wealth of information on SOMUAs in German service. |
