Hummel/Nashorn
Scratchbuild by Rick Britt
Concurrent scratchbuild of a late Hummel and mid-early Nashorn in 1/76.
The basic hull dimensions
are taken from H. L. Doyle's plans of the Aberdeen
Hummel, in Bellona Military Vehicle Prints Series 14. Nuts & Bolts vols
10
and 14 have been used for the details.
In the spirit of the project,
an old ESCI Hummel did donate the recuperator
on the Hummel gun !
The track guards, idlers,
drive sprockets, rubber return rollers and
suspension mounts are sourced from the Airfix Pz 4 and Stug 3. Wheels are
from the Italeri Pz 4. The Revell Pz 4 provided the idler hubs, steel return
rollers, tow hooks, jack and Noteks. The gun barrels are from Milicast.
Finding decent tracks in 1/76 may well be a problem !
The Nashorn will
be finished as a vehicle from s.H.Pz.Jg.Abt. 560, and the
Hummel will be in winter camouflage.
