StuIG 33 Auf Pz. III

Manufacturer: Rhino Models (Kit No. 38)

This is an excellent kit. I'm hoping to get to building it soon. The hull and track assemblies look like the kit is based on the ESCI Panzer III, but the idler wheel is obviously scratch-built, and it looks fantastic. I didn't think such thin resin was possible with the "pour method" of resin casting. As you can see in the scans, the level of detail is very good. The open hatch on the top of the hull is a pleasent change to the typical solid body resin castings for small scale vehicles. The small items in the lower right corner of the above scan are headlights and mufflers.

Because of the casting method, there are a fair number of bubbles and holes on the bottom of the hull, but these are easily filled. None of the parts need replacing, and assembly will be quite simple. No decals are included, nor are instructions, but none are needed either. I've compared the kit to drawings in the Achtung Panzer book which covers this vehicle, and the details match up quite well. This is a superb kit, and I highly recommend it.
