STZ-5 Tractor

Manufacturer: Ostmodels (Kit # OSTR26)

This is the first kit I have seen from this manufacturer, and it is fairly impressive. It is a simple kit, composed of only the eight parts seen above. The master parts were obviously well detailed, and the castings are adequate, although not exceptional. There are a few minor blemishes needing repair, and some small amount of flash that will be easily removed. No instructions are included, but hopefully the kit's simplicity will make construction intuitive. There is good representation of wood for the cargo bed, the wheels and suspension are fairly well done, and the tracks have adequate detail as well (on the outer surfaces only), although it cannot be seen in this view. Interior detail is minimal, so reference material will be handy in order to add some detail in this area.

Not a bad kit of a fairly unusual vehicle. It is perfect for wargamers, and with just a little extra detailing, will make a nice display piece as well.
