I
have to admit that the name of this set had me confused and that it
took me a while to realize that the trailers that this set represents
are the Sd.Anh.1, while the other is most likely the Infanteriekarren
If.8.
The Sd.Anh.1 was the standard trailer for the Kettenkrad (and is the
more streamlined of the two trailers in the set), while the If.8 could
be towed by soldiers or by a horse (and is the boxy trailer in the
set).
Sd.Anh.1
The Sd.Anh.1 consists of a body, two wheels, a drawbar and
a jerry can. The latter is only for general purpose as it will not
fit in the trailer. The trailer is filled with jerrycans, ammo boxes
and a backpack. I would have preferred it to be empty, with an optional
load.
Casting quality is mediocre, with quite a few pinholes, in fixable
places, though. More difficult to fix is the crooked look of the trailer
when seen from behind (which most likely results from a problem with
the master).
I have no reliable scale plans of this trailer, but based on the pictures
I found, it looks too pointy at the front. Most pictures also show
a different configuration of the convoy light and licence plate at
the back. Both issues might be due to the existence of different versions,
though.
If.8
The If.8 also consists of a body, two wheels, a drawbar and
a jerry can. The latter is, again, only for general purpose. The trailer
is filled with jerrycans and ammo boxes. I would have preferred it
to be empty, with an optional load, given the ingenousness of the
German soldier, when provided with this trailer and a few hours of
spare time.
If.8 carts were sometimes towed by motorized vehicles, but in most
cases they were pulled by (a) soldier(s) or a horse, requiring a different
drawbar than the one provided in the set.
Casting quality is better than for the Sd.Anh.1, with fewer pinholes.
A transversal bar at the front, looks broken, though (which most likely
results from a problem with the master).
I have no reliable scale plans of this trailer, but based on the pictures
I found, it looks ok, if not a littly bit tall.
