The
Kagero Photosniper series of books are outstanding
reference sources for model builders. Each book is a
collection of black & white and color walk-around
photographs of museum specimens for each subject vehicle.
The book begins with several pages of text (complete text
in Polish and English) describing the design and
development of the vehicle, followed by the bulk of the
book composed of the detail photographs. Also included
are very nice scale plans in both 1/72nd and 1/35th, and
it's rounded out with several color profiles on, and
inside, the covers. Each book also contains a bonus, in
the form of either photoetched parts (in 1/35th scale
only), decals, or sometimes painting masks. This
particular volume on the Sd.Kfz. 234 includes a sheet of
decals, in both 1/72nd and 1/35th scales. The detail
photos in this volume are of the Sd.Kfz. 234/4 preserved
in the Panzer Museum Munster, and show both interior and
exterior details, as well as separate photos of an engine
that has been removed from the vehicle. The decals are for:
- Sd.Kfz.234/1, 4th
Panzer Division, Gdansk 1945
- Sd.Kfz.234/2,
unknown unit, France 1944
- Sd.Kfz.234/2,
unknown unit, France 1944
- Sd.Kfz.234/3,
unknown unit, France 1944.
- Sd.Kfz.234/4, 1
ROA, 1945
There is also one set of
spare license numbers. Some of these marking schemes are
also included in several of the available plastic kits,
but in most, if not all cases, the quality of these
Kagero decals (printed by Techmod) are superior to the
kit decals. Except perhaps the Roden decals, as those
tend to be very nice as well.
