KV-2 Brass Detail Set

Once again, we can make a comparison between this set, and the competing set from PART. The PART set is much more extensive, but also quite a bit more expensive, and many of the parts are really small. I have always liked Extratech brass sets because they tend to only replace those things that need replacing, and consequently, are more affordable. This set is a perfect example: all of the pieces will greatly improve the PST KV-2, and it looks to be a fairly simple set to execute as well. I do wonder about the periscope covers, however. The covers on the kit are solid and definitely need to be fixed, but I wonder if it would be easier to hollow out the plastic, then to bend these brass parts into a smooth and rounded shape. We'll see.

I have been planning for a long time to make a diorama of that particular 2nd Tank Division KV-2 that held up the entire German 6th Panzer Division for a whole day in June, 1941. Maybe now I should give it a shot.
