After many years of gathering dust on the shelf, I finally decided to build this old Hasegawa M5 tractor which, despite its age, is finely molded and has nice details and parts fit. The kit's weakest link, so to speak, is the band tracks, but a hot knife and superglue keeps them together well enough. I replaced the plastic roof with a frame of wire and tissue paper. Other added bits include the window, wiper, light guards, ammo box and stowage. Something different: as I lost the decals, I brushed painted the US stars using a stencil made from paper, several layers of thin drybrushed white built up. With weathering they turned out nicely. This was a quick and enjoyable build, if you run across this model do pick it up as it still has a lot to offer.
